Four in a Row Center - Classic

Player's Turn (Red) - Place in the center (row 4, column 4)

How to Play Four in a Row – Tic-Tac-Toe Style

Objective: Be the first to connect four of your pieces in a row—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—on a 7×6 grid.

Players: You (Red pieces) vs. the Computer (Yellow pieces).

Game Setup:

  • The game is played on a 7-column, 6-row grid.
  • Pieces are placed directly on the grid (they don’t fall like in classic Four in a Row).
  • The first move must be in the center of the grid (row 3, column 3).
  • All subsequent moves must be adjacent to an existing piece (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally).

How to Play:

  1. First Move:
    • The first player (Red) must place their piece in the center of the grid (row 3, column 3).
  2. Your Turn (Red):
    • Click on any empty cell that is adjacent to an existing piece to place a red piece.
  3. Computer’s Turn (Yellow):
    • The computer will place a yellow piece in an empty cell that is adjacent to an existing piece.
  4. Winning:
    • Connect four of your pieces (red for you, yellow for the computer) in a row—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—to win.
    • If the board fills up without a winner, the game ends in a tie.
  5. Resetting:
    • Click the “Reset Game” button at any time to start a new game with a fresh board.

Tips:

  • Plan your moves to create opportunities for connecting four while blocking the computer’s attempts.
  • The computer is smart: it will try to win or block you, so think ahead.
  • Since moves must be adjacent, control key areas of the board to limit the computer’s options.

Have fun and aim for four in a row!
