How to Play: Movie & Actors Word Search
The Objective: The goal is to identify the hidden actor names from the given movie by finding their names in the word search grid.
How to Play:
- Start Your Game
- Begin by choosing one or more Movie Types (like Action, Comedy, etc.).
- If you don’t select any types, a puzzle will be chosen randomly from all available movies.
- Click the “Start Game” button to begin.
- Understand the Game Screen
- Movie Title (Top Left / Top Center on Mobile): This is your main clue! The actors you need to find starred in this film.
- Actors to Find (Top Center / Below Title on Mobile): This area shows underscores representing the letters of 1 to 3 hidden actor names. This is what you are trying to solve.
- Word Search Grid (Center): All the words that make up the actor names are hidden within this grid of letters.
- Letter Guesses (Top Right / Bottom on Mobile): You have an A-Z keyboard to help you.
- Two Ways to Solve the Puzzle
- Method 1: Guess Letters for Hints
- You have 10 guesses. You can click any letter on the A-Z keyboard.
- When you click a letter, it will automatically fill in all the corresponding blanks in the “Actors to Find” section above, helping you figure out the names.
- Each click uses one guess, so use them wisely!
- Method 2: Find Names in the Grid
- Once you spot a word in the grid (like “TOM” or “HANKS”), you need to select it.
- To select a word, click the first letter of the word, then click the last letter of that same word.
- Words can be hidden in any direction: forwards, backwards, up, down, and diagonally.
- If you are correct, the word will be fully revealed in the list above and highlighted in green in the grid.

- Winning the Game
- You win the game once you have successfully found all the words for all the hidden actor names in the grid. A “You Won!” message will appear, and your time will be recorded.
Tips & Tricks
“New Game (Change Options)” will take you back to the main screen to select new movie types.
Use your 10 letter guesses strategically. Guessing uncommon letters like J, Q, X, or Z can often give you big clues.
Remember to check for names spelled backwards and diagonally!
“New Puzzle” will start another game using the same movie types you already selected.
